SPF, which abbreviates Sender Policy Framework, is an authentication system that aims at stopping the so-called e-mail counterfeiting. Essentially, this means sending a message from one e-mail and making it seem to be sent from another one with the purpose to scam in some way the person opening it. If the SPF protection is active for a domain name, a record that includes all the mail servers authorized to send messages with addresses under the domain is generated. The record is stored on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic globally, therefore they all can recognize whether an e-mail message originates from an authentic server or not. The verification is conducted at the very first server where the email goes through and in the first case the message is forwarded, whereas in the second it's discarded and it never reaches the intended recipient. Using SPF records for your domain names will stop any unauthorized people from using your email addresses for malicious purposes.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain name hosted in a hosting account on our cloud platform with no more than a few mouse-clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our amazing Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to enable it is to select one of your domains from a drop-down list and type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be permitted to send messages from your emails. As an additional option you may also restrict the e-mails to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option will give you the best degree of protection, but it is not applicable when only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain name are managed in another place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your emails risk-free from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature is available with all of the semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use this service effortlessly for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a really easy to work with interface, so you do not need to be tech-savvy in order to protected your e-mail addresses. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you've picked. As a further option, we'll also allow you to restrict your outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain in question contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name have to be handled on our end and not by some other company. Doing so you will have even better control and there won't be any chance for any person to forge your emails for malicious uses.
